Just a ten minute drive off the Princes Highway is the peaceful island village of Sussex Inlet. Renowned for its waterways, parklands, natural bush settings and wildlife its a place for the whole family to explore.
Sussex Inlet is now known as the Island Township and is located two and a half hours from Sydney and three hours from Canberra, with the population being approximately 5,000. Sussex Inlet is a quiet, mainly residential area with lovely white sandy beaches and lots of inland waterways.
Sussex Inlet consists of a high number of retired people and young families with employment in nearby Nowra and Ulladulla or self-employment in the township.Whether you're looking for a bit of fun or just some fresh air, there are plenty of possibilities in Sussex Inlet. The township offers a variety of attractions and activities and many are unique to Sussex Inlet.
Sussex Inlet provides a plethora of outdoor activities for the whole family, and is often referred to as a prestige island getaway. Constantly expanding, this quaint town offers all things modern including movies, entertainment, quality clubs, cafes, shops and the new Aquatic Centre including playgrounds, tennis courts and barbecues. Fishing on the peaceful waters of the St Georges Basin is a great way to unwind and the reason so many people return year after year. Since commercial fishing has ceased, fisherman visiting the area are sure to be delighted by the amount of bream and flathead available. Boat hire is easily accessible.
An Annual Family Fishing Carnival is held for a week each July and attracts many fishing enthusiasts who cast their lines in the hope of winning one of the many prizes. A variety of events are held including competitions for children. Beach fishing is also handy at nearby Cudmirrah and Berrara beaches. Other activities you can enjoy on our waterways include snorkeling and scuba diving, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and of course swimming and surfing. Why not try a spot of golfing or bowling. A local cinema and two licensed clubs will help keep you entertained during your stay. A wide variety of reserves and bush and beach walks will ensure you get a taste of our unspoilt natural environment. On the second Saturday of the month enjoy lots of food, crafts and stalls at Sussex Inlet Markets in the Uniting Church grounds. No matter what your interests, you are sure to find plenty of entertainment during your stay in Sussex Inlet .
The modern RSL club on the waters edge has fabulous views fabulous views and dining and gaming facilities to entertain all, located near the inlet. The recently completed Bowling Club offers plenty of contemporary, high standards facilities. Hire a houseboat and explore the river or throw in a line to catch a fresh seafood dinner. A friendly village atmosphere will have you coming back time and time again. Sussex inlet offers some ideal fishing spots.
The Weather: The weather in Sussex Inlet offers a mild, sunny coastal climate with winter temperatures averaging 17 degrees and a summer average of 27 degrees tempered with sea breezes.
